Report: How Unai Emery Is Removing The So Called “dead wood” From Arsenal
Unai Emery has made some changes to the club including letting go of the players which some Arsenal fans used to say are pampered by Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal appointed Unai Emery as their new manager in May and the new head coach has made some changes already at the club which the Arsenal fans have loved and some which they didn’t like.
Arsenal fans used to use the term “dead wood” when they referred to players which Arsene Wenger used to pamper at the club despite them continually letting the club down many times so we take a look at how Unai Emery is handling the “dead wood” in his first few weeks at the club.
RELEASE OF SANTI CAZORLA AND JACK WILSHERE
Despite these two being one of the fan favourites at the Emirates Stadium but statistically, they were poor for the club in the past two years. Santi Cazorla did not play a single game for the gunners last season due to a knee injury which had kept him out for a full year, and even in the 2016/17 season, he made only three appearances for the Arsenal team while getting his weekly pay check.
Arsene Wenger could have offered Cazorla a new deal of at least one year out of love he has for Santi Cazorla yet he surely didn’t deserve one statistically even though he was a passionate Arsenal player.
Jack Wilshere was also another fan favourite at Arsenal but he has had a tough career at the Emirates Stadium like Cazorla because he was even nicknamed “wheelchair” by most Arsenal supporters because he was ever in bed, the gunners used to have a big problem because Arsene Wenger wouldn’t just let go of his favourite players at the club yet they weren’t at their best anymore.
Wilshere did try to improve last season but he could have done better and Arsene Wenger was confident that the Englishman would sign a new deal in his last days as Arsenal manager, the supporters believe that the French manager couldn’t mind getting fresh players at the North London club because he was busy pampering players like Wilshere.
So what’s the point of all this, Unai Emery has no any close relationship with the players because he has not been with them for years so if you have not impressed for the club, the new Arsenal boss will let you go as he works on letting all the so-called “dead wood” players go.
