Lucas Torreira Reveals What He Talked About On Phone With Unai Emery
Lucas Torreira has been linked with the gunners for long and the midfielder has confirmed that he was called by Arsenal’s new manager Unai Emery before his move to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal completed the signing of Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria according few days ago and the midfielder comes to the Emirates Stadium as one who will be able to strengthen the midfield of the gunners which has been unstable.
The gunners were linked with the Uruguay international for weeks and Lucas Torreira was rumoured to have had a phone call with the Arsenal manager Unai Emery, the midfielder has confirmed that the new gunners boss did call him before the start of the World Cup so he revealed how it went since he is now a gunner.
Lucas Torreira was unveiled as Arsenal’s player on Tuesday and the midfielder has told everyone what he and Unai Emery talked about;
“When he called me, I could not believe it. I was in a hotel with a friend and I got nervous, it was difficult for me to talk because receiving the call from a coach of such an important team generates many things.” Lucas Torreira told Ovacion.
“We spoke about several things. He also did not want to fill my head with a lot of things because I knew the World Cup was coming and that I was focused on that. ”
Arsenal supporters will be expecting much from Lucas Torreira in the coming season which kicks off in August and he will be their first real defensive midfielder because they have used Granit Xhaka in that position yet that ain’t naturally his position.
Lucas Torreira has been impressive in the Italian Serie A so the gunners will be hoping that he can show that performance in the Premier League as Unai Emery wants to finally break the gunners poor record of ‘failing to win EPL since 2004’ in his first try.
