Arsenal is linked with Sampdoria defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira and the player will certainly be joining the gunners this summer transfer window even though it might take a little longer.
Lucas Torreira is now with the Uruguay national team for the World Cup and his father Ricardo Torreira has revealed that his son rejected doing a medical of Arsenal while in Russia because they found it inconveniencing to them yet he is focussing at his national duty.
“It is as good as a fact that Lucas will join Arsenal.” Lucas Torreira’s father told Fox Sports Argentina.
“The deal is virtually done and only the arrival of Lucas is remaining.”
“Arsenal offered to do the medical examinations in Russia but we decided against it because we felt it was inconvenient, it is not the right time.”
Lucas Torreira’s father said that they were many clubs that gave them offers but says that they like which Arsenal gave them because it was better than the others, he also said that they won’t back down from their decision and snub a move to the Emirates Stadium because they have given the gunners their word.
Arsenal has already agreed a £26.4million deal with Sampdoria who are ready to let go of the defensive midfielder this summer because the gunners have met their asking price.
Lucas Torreira has been impressive in the World Cup and this is scaring most Arsenal supporters because they believe the player can change his mind, and join another club after hearing their offer.
