Lucas Torreira was once again on the Arsenal bench when the gunners faced Newcastle United on Saturday but he was however brought into the match in the second half, replacing Matteo Guendouzi.

Arsenal fans have for long urged Unai Emery to be selecting Lucas Torreira in the starting  lineup but the Spanish boss has continually used youngster Matteo Guendouzi because he was impressed with him in the pre-season and his good work rate in training.

Lucas Torreira helped on Saturday to make the Arsenal midfield stable which was very porous in the first half because both of Arsenal’s holding midfielders like going forward but it’s different with the Uruguayan international because he fully understands his role on the pitch, always ready to break down the attacking moves of opponents before they reach his box, his kind of similar to Francis Coquelin.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery admits that they needed balance on the pitch and says that Lucas Torreira was able to give it to them when he came on.

“I want to give every player confidence. I am very happy with Matteo and also very happy with Lucas.” the Arsenal boss told Arsenal Media.

“Maybe in the second half we needed a little more balance on the pitch with the positioning. Lucas gives us this balance.”

Arsenal fans believe that its high time Unai Emery understands that Lucas Torreira deserves to be in the starting eleven because he has now on numerous times helped the gunners win matches yet him coming into the game as a substitute.

It is certain that the gunners will finally see Lucas Torreira be on the starting eleven this month because Arsenal’s Europa League and Carabao Cup campaigns begin in September so the midfielder will likely play the full 90 minutes this time.

His performance in the Europa League will likely help Unai Emery test whether Lucas Torreira should be a regular starter in the Premier League.
