Analysis: Why Unai Emery Should Use The 4-4-2 Formation Against Leicester
Arsenal will take on Leicester City tomorrow and it will be their ninth Premier League match this season.
Arsenal will welcome Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on Monday and the gunners will be hoping to collect all the three points since a win against the Foxes will help them get into the Premier League top four.
Arsenal’s new boss Unai Emery has this season used the 4-2-3-1 formation but he however changed to 4-4-2 in the second half of Arsenal’s match against Fulham two weeks ago, this decision helped the gunners because they won the match 5-1. So let’s take a look at the important point why Unai Emery should shift to the 4-4-2 formation.
It Will Give Aubameyang A Chance To Impress
Unai Emery has used Aubameyang on the wing since he can’t afford benching Alexandre Lacazette who is on form. But the Gabon international would play in the middle which is a position he prefers playing in, meaning this would get the best out of him.
Aubameyang always links up well with Lacazette and it would even be better if they are playing as two strikers upfront against Leicester City. This was clearly seen against Fulham as Aubameyang and Lacazette were able to tear apart the defence of Fulham since they were two strikers putting pressure on the defenders.
There are many rumours that Unai Emery will finally use the 4-4-2 formation on Monday because he was happy how it helped his team get an impressive 5-1 win against Fulham. Arsenal fans are however worried that Mesut Ozil might not fit into the 4-4-2 formation because it doesn’t give him enough freedom to showcase his talent.
