Rob Holding has been impressive in Arsenal’s last three matches but Laurent Koscielny and Sokratis are about to return from their injuries.

Rob Holding arrived at the Emirates Stadium in 2016 and the English defender has been mostly been playing in the cup competitions when Arsene Wenger was still the manager of Arsenal. Arsene Wenger left at the end of last season and it seems Unai Emery also didn’t fully trust Rob Holding, and then opted to using him as a back up for Sokratis and Mustafi.

Arsenal has now been struck with an injury crisis and Unai Emery is forced to play Rob Holding in even the Premier League matches but the performance of the young defender has surprised many because he now looks mature and composed when he is with the ball. It’s good that Rob Holding has now got confidence which has helped him to unlock his full potential and he is now on form so it will be unnecessary for Unai Emery to drop him because of the return of Laurent Koscielny and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Everyone believed that Mohamed Salah was going to terrorise the defence of Arsenal on Saturday and the formation of the gunners would have seen Sead Kolasinac being responsible for stopping the Egyptian international but he failed because Salah was always getting past him, luckily for the gunners, Rob Holding was available to stop him from making any dangerous moves in the Arsenal box or give him any chance of scoring for Liverpool. The fact is Rob Holding pocketed Mohamed Salah on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos

Sokratis Papastathopoulos has missed a number of matches and Laurent Koscielny hasn’t made any appearance for the gunners but since they are both expected to return this month, Rob Holding could soon become a bench warmer again. Unai Emery should not drop Rob Holding to start any of those two because he has proved that he is a versatile centre back that deserves to be in Unai Emery’s first eleven. If Unai Emery wants to drop one centre back, it should be Mustafi because Rob Holding has earned his place in the starting eleven.

Unai Emery has shown that he is a man who cares about performance and I believe that he won’t just drop Rob Holding yet the young centre back has impressed on the pitch, so let’s wait and see!

I just love writing and football so much ever since the 2000's when football got popular in our country. I am a self esteemed person who believes is am always right.
