Arsenal appointed Unai Emery as their new head coach in May, 2018 after Arsene Wenger had resigned after being at the North London club for 20+ years. There are a lot of questions on whether he was the right man for the job or if he will be able to mount a serious title challenge in his second season but Arsenal’s legend Paul Merson has revealed why the gunners coach won’t succeed in England.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery came in with five signings in the Summer transfer window and the Arsenal fans were hoping that these players would be able to help sort out their defensive problems since they were as follows; Bernd Leno ( Goalkeeper ), Sokratis Papastathopoulos ( Centre back ), Stephan Lichtsteiner ( Right back ), Matteo Guendouzi ( Central Midfielder) and Lucas Torreira ( Defensive Midfielder ).

The gunners are still conceding many goals this season even with these signings and Arsenal legend Paul Merson has given his honest assessment that the North Londoners will not achieve anything until they sort out their defensive problems.

“Arsenal are now showing their true colours. Until they sort out the defence, they won’t be able to achieve anything.” Paul Merson said on Sky Sports .

“Unai Emery will need a few windows to sort it out but the players they’ve purchased haven’t been great.”

“Everyone was raving about Lucas Torreira, but he’s not that good. I said this a few months ago and everyone kicked up a stink.”

Paul Merson has always spoken negatively about Arsenal among the legends of the North London club but some fans might agree with him on this since it’s obvious that the gunners still need to sign one more solid defender since Shkodran Mustafi is not consistent and they are usually struck with injuries.

I just love writing and football so much ever since the 2000's when football got popular in our country. I am a self esteemed person who believes is am always right.
