Unai Emery tells Arsenal fans to let him do his job

The gunners defeated Fulham 4-1 thanks to an impressive performance from the Arsenal team and the fans are happy that they have begun 2019 with a win. Arsenal boss Unai Emery brought back Alexandre Lacazette in the starting eleven after benching the Frenchman in their match against Liverpool last weekend.

The gunners scored only one goal in the first 45 minutes because their attackers were missing many chances but Alexandre Lacazette finally went on the score sheet as he scored a stunning goal after receiving a nice quick pass from Sead Kolasinac in the second half. Arsenal did then put pressure on Fulham but a mistake by Lucas Torreira saw the gunners concede one goal after Kamara put the ball in an empty net.

Arsenal looked frustrated and started making careless mistakes in its own half and Unai Emery then substituted Alexandre Lacazette for Aaron Ramsey, the supporters weren’t happy with this decision and booed as the Frenchman walked off the pitch. Luckily for Unai Emery, Aaron Ramsey made significant impact as he scored Arsenal’s third goal of the day and Aubameyang later finished off the match in the dying minutes.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery talked about this in his post-match press conference and he has said that the fans should let him do his job because subbing Lacazette for Ramsey was tactical.

“Tactically, we were thinking that in that moment we needed to change to get more balance.” Unai Emery told Arsenal’s official website.

“Above all else, we know Jean Michael Seri very well and we needed to get a player close to him, to not let him play with the ball very easily. When Aaron Ramsey came onto the pitch, he could do that and can also help us in attacking moments – and he scored.”

“The reason for the decision was this and I need to do my work. Every supporter can think different things tactically, but for me today, Lacazette worked very well, scored and he helped us. His reaction was very positive.”
