Bukayo Saka retells the story of his Arsenal debut against Qarabag

Bukayo Saka has recently become a fan favourite amongst the Arsenal fans and the 18-year-old has spoke out on the time he made his debut.

Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka has unexpectedly been impressive for the gunners this season and has even broke some records like being the second teenager to have double-digit assists during a campaign. It really has been a dream season for Saka as he has managed to become an essential player in the Arsenal squad this season and he has decided to retell the story of his debut for Arsenal at the age of 17 years old.

Bukayo Saka has been fantastic for the Arsenal youth sides and the club decided to promote him to the first team this season after it pushed the likes out of Mkhitaryan, Monreal and Iwobi out of the club in order to try to develop their talented youngsters, and the progress made by the 18-year-old will surely make them happy as he wouldn’t have had all these chances if the above three players stayed.

Bukayo Saka made his Arsenal debut last year in the UEFA Europa League against Ukrainian side Qarabag and he has revealed that he was overwhelmed with the news that he would be in the starting eleven of that game, he even says that he failed to get any sleep waiting for that special moment.

“My first-team debut last year was in Ukraine, so that wasn’t an easy one to get to for them, but two weeks later my family were all there when I started my first game at the Emirates.” Bukayo Saka told Arsenal’s official website.

“It was a few months after my 17th birthday, against Qarabag in the Europa League, and I was told I would be starting the day before the game. I couldn’t sleep at all! My dad told me he was that same.”

“They came to the game to support me and I remember seeing how happy they looked afterwards. I framed my shirt from that game – it’s on the wall at home.”

Bukayo Saka has won over the hearts of the Arsenal fans this season and so they will be hoping that the club gives him a new contract as soon as possible since he has only 18 months remaining on his current contract and another talented player leaving the club abruptly would be a bad look on the North London club.
