Italian club director says that PL season will be cancelled and why Arsenal would benefit from this
The 2019/20 Premier League season could be cancelled according to Udinese director and Arsenal could benefit if it turns out to be true.
The Premier League was recently suspended indefinitely and in the statement that they released, they said that the league would only be allowed to continue when it is safe as many people are currently dying in the UK due to the COVID-19 virus. Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino has surprised everyone by claiming that the Premier League will soon be cancelled and this could turn out good for Arsenal.
The Corona Virus epidemic has affected almost everything around the world and the Premier League started by suspending the league until April but that was later changed to May until they finally released a new statement confirming that they’ve cancelled it indefinitely and promised that it will however be completed no matter what, Arsenal’s hierarchy also released a statement showing support to this decision of finishing the season.
Pierpaolo Marino who is a director of Serie A club Udinese which has the same owners as those of Watford, the Italian has surprised everyone by making the following statement about the possible cancellation of the 2019/20 Premier League season.
“The Belgian Federation has already sanctioned the end of their league, despite the threats of sanctions from UEFA.” The Udinese director told Sportitalia .
“In England, the Premier League is about to release a similar statement, because the situation there is becoming very, very serious. I frankly just hope we can enjoy football again after the coronavirus.”
Arsenal could benefit from the cancellation of the Premier League because it is believed that the top four finishes ( UCL spots) would be chosen according to last season’s standings and since Manchester City are banned from UEFA competitions, then the fifth placed team from the 2018/19 will gain a UEFA Champions League spot. If the Premier League follows this model, the gunners will certainly come out as the victors.
