Premier League’s restart date revealed and Arsenal to play first game
The Premier League has not taken place in the last two months but they have however begun preparations for restarting and Arsenal’s game will be the first.
The Premier League hasn’t taken place since 13th, March but it looks like is on its way back as all the clubs have begun training at their training grounds and it’s now being reported that a date for the first game has been set. Most Premier League clubs will be glad that the season is finally getting concluded.
The Premier League got suspended after the Coronavirus cases in England increased and the surprising news that Arsenal’s head coach Mikel Arteta had tested positive of COVID-19 saw the league immediately get cancelled. BBC Sport has however released a report saying that the Premier League will return on the 17th of June with Arsenal’s away game against Manchester City and Aston Villa Vs Sheffield United being the very first games.
These two games will be the first ones to be played after the suspension since they were postponed due to the Carabao Cup final between Manchester City and Aston Villa. The games will take place on Wednesday, 17th/June/2020. It will be a bit of disappointing to the Arsenal fans that their first game will be against the defending Champions but they will however hope that they can get a result against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium since the Citizens won’t have the home support due to all games being played behind closed doors.
Arsenal have this season been woeful but they were however on a good run when the Premier League got cancelled and so they will be hoping to continue on that when the league restarts since they will need to be at their absolute best in their quest for getting into the UEFA Champions League spots.
