Mikel Arteta reveals how Martinelli got injured and the time he will spend on the sidelines
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has given clarification on how Gabriel Martinelli got injured in training and also spoke out on the time he could be out on the sidelines.
Arsenal signed Gabriel Martinelli from the lower tier of Brazilian football in 2019 and he has turned out to be a great youngster as he has scored 10 goals and made 2 assists in all competitions this season but the gunners have however received unfortunate news saying that he is now injured. Arteta has spoken out on the situation.
Many believed Gabriel Martinelli would be put in the Arsenal U-23 squad when he arrived at the Emirates Stadium but he has however got himself to be a very regular starter for the North Londoners thanks to putting in incredible performances but it looks like he now won’t be able to do so for some time.
Martinelli who is yet to play since the Premier League restarted has picked up an injury in training and Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has explained that the young Brazilian international got it due to a tackle from one of his teammates but he was however not straight forward on how long the 19 year old will be out.
“We had some really bad news again yesterday in training. In the last action, he [Martinelli] got hit by another player and he’s damaged his knee. The doctors are assessing the extent of the injury but it’s not looking good at all.” Arteta told Football.London.
“We don’t know but it’s looking months.” said the Arsenal head coach on how long he will be out.
This is a very big blow for Mikel Arteta because his squad just keeps getting thinner and thinner and everyone was excited to see Gabriel Martinelli under the Arsenal boss once more since he was impressive when he had just come as he scored twice in the Premier League against Sheffield United and Chelsea. It looks like his season could be done but the Arsenal fans will hope that he is back by the start of next season.
