Report: Arsenal lineup that Arteta is likely to use vs Manchester City
Arsenal will play Manchester City in a few weeks time and here is how Arteta could set up his team to beat his former boss and employers
The Premier League will return on the 17th of this month and Arsenal’s game against Manchester City will be one of the first two games that are played. Mikel Arteta will want to get a win in the first game after the restart of the Premier League and so we take a look at the possible lineup that he might use in this game.
Arsenal will come into this game well knowing that they have not beaten a big six club away from home since 2015 and so it will be a perfect opportunity for Arteta to show that he is here to change these embarrassing records and beating his former boss Pep Guardiola would be interesting. But first, he’ll need to select a good lineup.
PREDICTED ARSENAL LINEUP TO FACE MANCHESTER CITY
TEXT FORM: Leno, Tierney, Mari, Luiz, Bellerin, Xhaka, Torreira, Martinelli, Ozil, Pepe, Aubameyang
GOALKEEPING:
Bernd Leno is Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper and so it will not be a surprise when he is in between the goal posts against a tough opponent such as Manchester City.
DEFENCE:
Mikel Arteta used Pablo Mari and David Luiz once in the game against West Ham United but it is clear it’s the centre back partnership that he wants and so these two will lead the Arsenal defence while Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney start as fullbacks.
CENTRAL MIDFIELD:
Arsenal have received an injury boost thanks to Lucas Torreira’s recovery and Arteta is expected to partner him with Granit Xhaka on the game against Manchester City. Torreira will be needed in this game since he is great at winning back possession.
ATTACKING MIDFIELD:
Mesut Ozil has not always been impressive in the away matches but he is however a great passer of the ball and can help in the attacking sequences. Arteta will need pace and so that’s why Pepe and Martinelli will be on the flanks.
STRIKING:
Aubameyang is a great striker and one of his main strengths is pace and the gunners will definitely need that since they will have to play on the counter to beat Manchester City.
