Report: Arsenal make Alexandre Lacazette transfer decision after Atletico Madrid interest
Alexandre Lacazette has attracted interest from Atletico Madrid and Arsenal have reportedly made a decision on his future.
Arsenal completed the signing of Alexandre Lacazette in the 2017 summer transfer window but he has however been underwhelming in these three years he has been at the Emirates Stadium as Aubameyang who arrived later has outperformed him. Lacazette has been linked with a move away from Arsenal in recent weeks but new reports say that the gunners might have made a decision on his future.
Alexandre Lacazette arrived at Arsenal from Lyon in a big money move but an injury that he sustained during the 2017/18 season saw the gunners go out and buy another forward in Aubameyang who then outperformed the Frenchman but they however formed a great relationship with the Gabon international last season. Lacazette has only scored nine goals in all competitions this season but he has however still attracted interest from Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
ESPN has today released a report claiming that Arsenal have decided that they will hold talks with Lacazette over a new deal since his current contract at the club will expire in 2021 and since the gunners don’t want to face the same situation that they are in with Aubameyang who has entered into the final year of his current deal at the Emirates Stadium, they will want to tie their other striker to a new deal. The report claims that Lacazette hasn’t requested a departure from Arsenal but that he has however asked for assurances from Mikel Arteta over his role next season since it is much likely that Aubameyang will leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Lacazette has been poor for Arsenal this season as he has only scored nine goals and even went on a goalless run of nine games hence losing favour of most of the fanbase and they’ve begun urging the club to sell the 29 year old and keep Aubameyang who has been their best player in the last two years.
