Report: Thomas Partey’s father opens up on Arsenal’s proposed move for his son
Thomas Partey to Arsenal has been one of the most reported stories in the last two months and his father has spoken out on these transfer rumours.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey has been impressive this season for the Spanish side and him proving that his one of the best defensive midfielders in the world has seen him attract a lot of interest from many clubs including Arsenal. The gunners have been the most linked club with a move for Partey and his father Jacob Partey has spoken out on his son’s future.
Arsenal have been interested in Thomas Partey for a long time as it was even claimed way back in the 2019 summer transfer window that the gunners wanted to get the Ghanaian international but were however not successful in doing so because they had spent most of their funds on bringing Nicolas Pepe to the Emirates Stadium.
Jacob Partey added more fuel to the transfer rumours linking Arsenal to Partey when he apparently said that he had been told by his son that the 26 year old would be coming to the Emirates Stadium but he has however come out and changed his stance, saying that the Atletico Madrid midfielder would only leave the Spanish club if someone paid his release clause and says that this doesn’t mean he is saying only Arsenal would be the one getting him.
“My son’s current club Atletico Madrid has a release clause in Partey’s deal…this means that any club which shows interest in signing him must meet those demands.” said Jacob Partey as per The Metro.
“So any team which meets Atletico’s demand will be able to sign my son, and not specifically Arsenal as rumoured in a section of the media. I always call my son and he is of age to decide on a move…I am ready to support his decision.”
It will be interesting to see what decision that Thomas Partey does because most reports claim that Arsenal have made him their main transfer target for the upcoming summer transfer window.
