Arsenal signed Nicolas Pepe from Lille on a record fee of £72million in the 2019 summer transfer window and the fans had huge expectations for the winger since the club had spent a lot of money on him. Pepe has however underperformed this season as he has only scored 4 goals and made six assists but we however take a look how Mikel Arteta is going to make him a world class player.

1. ARTETA WILL FINALLY GIVE HIM AN OVERLAPPING RIGHT BACK

Nicolas Pepe has this season played without any support on his flank because the gunners have not had any natural right backs playing in that position due to the injury of Hector Bellerin, it was always evident at the start of the season how Pepe would dribble past about three players until finally losing the ball due to not having someone to link up with since someone like Ainsley Maitland-Niles wasn’t always allowed to overlap and Sokratis is a centre back that is useless when going forward.

Hector Bellerin hasn’t played a lot this season because he wasn’t fully fit but he will however be fully fit when the league and Pepe will be happy with his return since Mikel Arteta will finally give him the overlapping fullback that he requires to impress in the Premier League.

2. ARTETA WIL PROVIDED A SYSTEM FOR PEPE

Nicolas Pepe played under Unai Emery when the Spanish boss was at his worst but Mikel Arteta has however brought a new well organized system that will see the North Londoners start playing possession football and Pepe will be just the right player for this type of style since he is very good at dribbling and that could be used to draw out defenders hence making space for other players.

Arteta has great history of improving wingers and you can already see that he has already had an impact on Pepe as the winger has improved his numbers in the first three months under the Spaniard.

I just love writing and football so much ever since the 2000's when football got popular in our country. I am a self esteemed person who believes is am always right.
