Mikel Arteta reveals why he likes Kieran Tierney after player’s heroics against Man City
Kieran Tierney arrived at Arsenal in the 2019 summer transfer window and he has become a fan favourite and Arteta has spoken out on why he likes the Scottish international.

Arsenal completed the signing of Kieran Tierney in the 2019 summer transfer window and even though the fans had to wait for months to see him in action, his performances have been worth the wait as he has been impressive in their last few weeks. Mikel Arteta has also spoken out on why he likes Tierney.
Kieran Tierney didn’t play a lot for Arsenal last year because he arrived at the club with an injury and had to first wait for a few months before he got his debut. The Scottish left back got a couple of matches with his new Arsenal team but sustained a new injury in the 3-1 win over West Ham United in November and only just made his return to the squad in February.
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta selected Kieran Tierney in the starting eleven that defeated Manchester City 2-0 and the 23 year old was very influential in that game as he assisted Aubameyang’s second goal of the day. Tierney was also solid in defence since Arteta had used him in the left centre back role. Arsenal’s head coach Mikel Arteta has praised Tierney and has spoken on why he likes the Scottish international.
“I think I can talk for all the staff when I say we are delighted with him. He’s a joy of a kid. He’s always willing to do more, he always wants to train harder, he wants to push himself more. He had some difficult moments since he joined but hopefully he feels [settled].” Mikel Arteta told Arsenal Player.
“We really like him and we really support him. I really appreciate everything he’s done since we joined. For me, he’s a player who is a really good role model for any other player in the squad.”
