Emiliano Martinez makes a request to Mikel Arteta after FA Cup heroics
Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was very impressive for the gunners in the league and FA Cup, and he has now made a request to Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was very impressive for the gunners in the 2019/20 campaign in the few matches that he played in after the unfortunate injury of Bernd Leno. The Argentinian has now made a request to Mikel Arteta after his impressive performances that saw them win the FA Cup.
Emiliano Martinez has been at Arsenal for many years now but he has only got his first real run of games in the starting eleven this year and he has surprised everyone with the performances he has put out as he is made the fans to start questioning themselves on who is better between him and Bernd Leno.
Emiliano Martinez was very impressive in the Emirates FA Cup semi final against Manchester City as he made some nerve-racking saves and then had a similar performance in the final against The Blues, and he has now indirectly requested Mikel Arteta to make him the first choice goalkeeper as he has proved to the club that he is capable of that role this season. Martinez also says that he would have to move out of the Emirates Stadium and then go to a club that would offer him more minutes if the club can’t promise him.
“I demonstrated to the club that I can play and also when I return in the next season I need to play more games.” Emiliano Martinez told Argentinian radio station Continent.
“And that’s the only way that I will stay at Arsenal. If I don’t play for Arsenal I would clearly move on.”
It will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta will indeed make Emiliano Martinez the first choice goalkeeper because Bernd Leno was also one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League last season. The new Premier League season is just a month away and Leno will be fit to play and so the gunners could be forced to sell one of them.
