Lacazette speaks out on his future ahead of FA Cup final against Chelsea
Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has two years remaining on his current contract and he has spoken out on his future ahead of the FA Cup final against Chelsea.
Arsenal completed the signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon in the 2017 summer transfer window and his time at the club has been overshadowed by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who arrived at the Emirates Stadium as well six months later. Lacazette has spoken out on his future ahead of the FA Cup final against Chelsea.
Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has this season struggled in the Premier League as he even went on a goalless run of nine games but has however come up with some important goals in the past few weeks and there hasn’t been any update about his future until now as he has just two years remaining on his deal.
Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi said that the gunners would sell anyone who wouldn’t renew his contract if he has just two years remaining and Lacazette currently fits in this profile and he has been asked whether the new contract extension talks have begun but he however says that they haven’t and that he is now only focusing on performing well in games.
“No, we didn’t talk about this. Me, I’m just playing my games and finishing the season to see how it’s going to be but we didn’t talk about anything.” Lacazette told Sky Sports.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal will be selling Lacazette or giving him a new contract this summer since they said that you either sign a new deal or get sold to avoid making the same mistakes as they did to find themselves in the Aubameyang and Ramsey situations. Lacazette was also asked if him agreeing a new deal will depend on Aubameyang but he however said that it isn’t like that.
“No, because we know that Auba has a lot of discussions with the club and I can’t put my future on someone else.” said Lacazette.
“When he came everyone knows we had a good relationship together. We always talk about everything, not only about football but everything in life. He’s a good guy. That’s why between us it became really easy.”
