Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid central midfielder Thomas Partey who was one of the best midfielders in the world in the 2019/20 campaign but the gunners have however faced a number of obstacles in their pursuit of him. Arsenal’s main obstacle has always been his release clause of €50million but a new report has revealed that a new reason might see them end their interest in the Ghanaian international.

Thomas Partey was one of Atletico Madrid’s best players last season as he was even instrumental in their arguably their best two games which came against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League. Partey was not in the starting eleven in the UEFA Champions League match that saw Atletico Madrid get knocked out and some football pundits believe that their chances of progressing would have been higher if he started in that game.

It’s been long since Arsenal fans last received an update on their pursuit of Partey but a report by Arseblog claims that the gunners could be forced to end their interest in the Ghanaian international due to the personal terms from the player as the club believes that his demands could be prohibitive in the chances of the deal happening this summer. The report does not mention whether the gunners would indeed be willing to pay his release clause of €50million but it looks like they might pull out due to the demands from the player and not the funds needed to sign him.

The Thomas Partey transfer saga has been going on for months but the Arsenal fans will keep hoping that the 27 year old could still join them as its believed that he is yet to agree to a new contract from his current club Atletico Madrid even though it was put on his table many months back.
