Report: Why Phillipe Coutinho to Arsenal could still happen this summer
Phillipe Coutinho has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the last few months and we take a look at if this deal will still happen.
It is a well known fact that Arsenal will try to sign a new central attacking midfielder this summer since it looks like there is no way back for Mesut Ozil to get into the squad and among those that have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium is Barcelona’s Coutinho. It was widely reported in the past that Arsenal were hoping to sign Coutinho this summer but everything’s been quiet and so we take a look as if it is still happening.
Bayern Munich have today said goodbye to Phillipe Coutinho after he spent a full season with them, helping them win the UEFA Champions League and The Bundesliga but they were however not able to permanently sign him as the option to buy clause in the deal is too expensive. Coutinho is now Barcelona player again and we take a look as to why a move to Arsenal could still happen in this summer transfer window.
1. MIKEL ARTETA WANTS AN ATTACKING MIDFIELDER AND COUTINHO IS AVAILABLE ON LOAN
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is well aware that one of their biggest problems last season was the failure to get any goals from their midfielders and so he will be needing someone to come in as it looks like he won’t be bringing back Mesut Ozil into the squad. And so it would make sense for the gunners to get Coutinho on a season long loan deal as he would be someone that would add goals to their midfield.
2. EDU GASPAR COULD BE VERY KEY IN BRINGING COUTINHO AT ARSENAL
Arsenal are building a great family of Brazilians at the club with now Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes, David Luiz and Willian and most of these players have said that one of the reasons they came to the Emirates Stadium because they knew him from the Brazilian national football team. Coutinho could be swayed with the prospect of feeling welcome at Arsenal since they are already have some other Brazilian players at the club and it’d been widely reported that he feels like an outcast at Barcelona.
