The summer transfer window ended on Monday and it saw Arsenal welcome some new players as well as having departures and the North Londoners will now have until 20th October to submit their 25 man Premier League squad for the 2020/21 season. Mikel Arteta will be given a tough task of selecting the players that will be left out as its been revealed that he might have to axe two of his stars at the club to meet the non homegrown quota.

The gunners have after the summer transfer window exceeded the allocated players for their non-homegrown quota by two players after the club failed to sell some of its unwanted players on deadline day due to not having enough time to complete the transfers and so this will see Mikel Arteta have to choose two players that will not be registered in this year’s Premier League squad.

Goal.com is reporting that Arsenal manager could be forced to not register Mesut Ozil and one centre back since the past few weeks have shown that the Spanish boss will not be recalling the German international back to the squad as he wasn’t even given a chance in the cup competitions. The report doesn’t however mention the centre back that would not be registered but they however hint that it could be one of Sokratis or Mustafi  as they were put on the market and the club was hoping they would leave in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have a lot of centre backs on their books and so it’s no surprising that the club might consider not registering one as they have all the depth they need ahead of their participation in four competitions.
