Arsenal will be looking forward to the return of club football as they will hope to return to winning ways after having been beaten 3-0 by Aston Villa before the start of the international break. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has had to play some players in certain positions to make his three at the back system work.
Arsenal left back Kieran Tierney has played as a centre back in the three man defence that Mikel Arteta has mostly used this season in the Premier League even though the 23 year old has been very promising in most of his games in the fullback position.
Arsenal legend Tony Adams who won the league title in three different decades with the gunners has spoken out about the usage of Kieran Tierney by Mikel Arteta this season, saying that the Scottish international needs to start playing him in the left back position as he is going to get confused if he keeps playing as both a left footed centre and as a fullback.
“I think Tierney has got it all, he’s got a fantastic attitude. He’s someone you can really work with but to play him left-side centre-half, and then sometimes playing him left back, the kid’s going to get confused.” said Tony Adams as quoted by Football.London.
“You’ve got to put him in at left-back and work with him. I think he can be a real talent when he bombs down that left.”
It is expected that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could go back to a back four after the international break and so gunners legend Tony Adams could have his wish of having Kieran Tierney play in the left back position come true.
