Mikel Arteta makes a hint at Mesut Ozil finally returning to the Arsenal squad
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made a hint that Mesut Ozil could return to the squad as we approach the time for Premier League clubs to submit new squads for the campaign.
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil was not registered in their squad for the Premier League this season after all their non homegrown quota was fully used and Mikel Arteta made the tough decision of the German international being among those two to be left out. This decision has received a lot of criticism since it was made as the gunners have seemed devoid of criticism this season.
Arsenal will be required to update their registered Premier League squad in this upcoming January and some fans are anxiously waiting to see if the club and Mikel Arteta will decide to bring back Mesut Ozil since they have struggled in the past weeks due to not having enough creative players. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta recently faced the media and was asked about the possibility of seeing Mesut Ozil after January and hint that they could bring him back to the squad for the first time.
“He’s not in the squad right now. I’m focusing just on the players we have here. But, whatever happens in January, we have some time to decide.” said Mikel Arteta as per Mirror.
Mesut Ozil has just a few months remaining on his current contract at Arsenal and there hasn’t been any sign that the World Cup winning midfielder will leave before it expires as he has in most interviews said that he will not leave the North London club despite its current treatment of him. The gunners are currently in the 15th position on the Premier League table and has created the least chances in the league and so some of the Arsenal fans feel that Ozil could improve the current team, even just for his last six months.
