Report: The three attacking midfielders that Arsenal will pursue in the January transfer window
It is well understood that Arsenal will try to sign a new attacking midfielder in the January transfer window and we take a look at three players that they will pursue.
Arsenal will likely be one of the busiest clubs in the upcoming January transfer market as they will look for suitors for some of their deadwood and its also been confirmed that the North London club will try to sign a new attacking midfielder as they have seemed devoid of creativity in some of their Premier League games this season.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has also not been very secretive on their lack of options in midfield as he has at times admitted that the club will have to bring in someone new for midfield so that the team can go to the next level and the club’s technical director Edu Gaspar did openly reveal to supporters in a fan’s forum event that they were planning to sign someone in midfield in this winter transfer window. And we today take a look at three players that they will pursue in this January transfer window to fix their chance creation problems.
1. EMI BUENDIA
Emi Buendia was one of Norwich’s best players in the 2019/20 season despite their relegation and he has continued his form in the Championship as he is among the leading top creative players there hence attracting interest from many top clubs including Arsenal. Buendia is a young player that wouldn’t need time to adapt to the Premier League and so it will be interesting to see if the gunners do get him.
BBC Sport claims that Emi Buendia is a possibility for Arsenal in the January transfer window and that the Norwich star is in the price range that would suit the gunners as they will definitely not want to splash a lot of cash in the window without knowing if they will be in any of the European competitions next season.
2. HOUSSEM AOUAR
Houssem Aouar was intensively chased by Arsenal in the summer transfer window but the gunners were however not successful as they failed to get enough funds that would allow them to sign both Thomas Partey and the Moroccan international in the same window hence Arsenal fans hoping that their club would revisit this file in January, and it looks like they might have got their wish as its believed that French clubs could sell their stars after the company that bought the league’s leading TV deal shut down due to financial problems.
Football.London reported that Houssem Aouar is one of the players that the gunners have put their eyes on after missing out on Szoboszlai but they state that he will be expensive.
3. ISCO
Real Madrid midfielder Isco who was part of their squads that won the UEFA Champions League four times and the league twice is agitating for a move after having been underused by Zidane this season and Arsenal seem to be well stationed to sign him in the January transfer window. Spanish outlet AS is reporting that Arsenal are indeed interested in Isco and that Arteta wants him at the club on a short term loan deal in this upcoming transfer window.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was yesterday asked about links to Isco and he didn’t deny them but he however said that he can’t comment on individual players.
