Transfers: Arsenal identify Martin Odegaard alternative
Arsenal have already identified an alternative player if they fail to sign Martin Odegaard.
Arsenal have reportedly chosen Barcelona midfielder Phillipe Coutinho as their plan B, should they fail to secure Martin Odegaard permanently from Real Madrid.
Coutinho has had an unsuccessful stint in Spain ever since he made a mega £142m move from Liverpool in 2018.
He was later loaned to Bayern Munich for the 2019/2020 season where he helped them win a number of trophies but ever since he return back to Catalonia he has struggled with injuries and form.
And according to the Daily Star Barcelona are ready to accept offers for as low as £35m for their record signing.
Arsenal’s priority is to find a way of keeping hold of Martin Odegaard who has begun to show his quality in the Arsenal team.
But Real Madrid will need a high offer to get persuaded to sell the young and talented Odegaard. Arsenal could instead opt for Coutinho who is keen on returning to England to revive his career.
The 28-year-old Brazilian has hinted about love for the Premier League and refused to rule out a move back to Liverpool, where he had a successful career.
With the transfer window approaching, Arsenal could be pursue Coutinho for a cut price of £35m with Coutinho eager to revive his career.
