Arsenal’s forgotten player that is having an impressive season on loan

Statistics show Mavropanos as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga.

Konstantinos “dinos” Mavropanos is a forgotten man. He is having a second loan spell in Germany with Stuttgart.

After a loan spell at Nuremberg, Mavropanos was handed a contract extension until 2023 before he was sent out to the Bundesliga on loan.

The towering Greek defender was signed during Arsene Wenger’s tenure and rose out of the academy, he had a few impressive performances for the senior side.

Statistics show Mavropanos as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga with an impressive rating of 7 from Whoscored.

Mavropanos has received man of the match awards, team of the week accolades and numerous praises for his display for Stuttgart this season.

Comparing his defensive stats to Arsenal’s current centre-backs Mavropanos in his 17 appearances on average makes 3 interceptions per-game. Gabriel’s 1.3 interceptions per-game is Arsenal’s best among centre-backs.

Mavropanos on average has made 2.2 tackles, Rob Holding comes close with 1.5 tackles per-game.

He has a better ratings compared to Arsenal’s centre-backs but of course the Premier League is a different story and can’t really be put in an analogy with the Bundesliga.

But Arsenal will have some thinking to do regarding his future, at just 23 he could be a direct replacement for David Luiz who is soon clocking 34.

Another Arsenal’s star who has put in some decent performances on loan is William Saliba, he has regained his confidence with French side Nice.
