Opinion: Arteta is a student, Arsenal need someone who has graduated

Arteta is just not the man to steer us forward, we all have to accept this.

Thursday’s 2-1 defeat to Villarreal really exposed Mikel Arteta’s inexperience and lack of idea’s. Straight away from the team he fielded to start Arsenal’s biggest game off the season, everything was questionable.

Starting with Emile Smith-Rowe as a false nine, instead of at least starting the game with Martinelli. Why would you gamble like this in such a big game?

Then there’s Arteta’s late substitutions, at halftime Ceballos should have been taken off, he was clearly having a poor game before he got sent off. What is annoying is Villarreal also got a player sent off but Arteta waited a further ten minutes to bring on Aubameyang in the 85th minute.

Aubameyang immediately got a chance and was unfortunate not to score. A better manager would have realized that momentum was with Arsenal after Pepe’s goal and Villarreal’s red card and immediately thrown on Aubameyang and maybe the result would have been different.

It’s been the story all season so many ridiculous decisions a notable mention is starting Willian as a striker against Manchester City leaving Lacazette on the bench and Aubameyang on the wing.

Each week Arteta’s Arsenal keep making or breaking unwanted records. 13 defeats in the League, 7 of those at home Arsenal has never been this bad.

Arteta’s record as Arsenal manager is awful compared to Wenger’s worst season and Emery’s record, but we keep patience and faith in him not because he can do the job but because we hope he can at some point.

Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery

Arteta isn’t getting the same criticism Emery and Wenger got.

He had made a good start to his first big job when he won us the Fa Cup, fast forward to his first full season and we’re languishing 10th on the table and playing depressing style of football.

We may not have world beaters for players but surely we shouldn’t be struggling to win games against Fulham, Burnley et al.

The Kroenke’s are always to blame they don’t care about the club besides it’s stock value, if they did care Arteta would have been sacked because this is utter mediocrity by our standards.

We have to face the reality of the situation which is that Arteta’s isn’t fit for this job and he should be replaced and not kept because of sentiments.

A keen follower and fan of Arsenal since the mid-2000s with passion for the game. I aim to write honest and interesting articles about the club I love, and to share my opinions with as many other fans as possible.
