The four positions Arsenal need to strengthen ahead of next season
The four positions where Arsenal must recruit new players to bolster their squad.
Arsenal have had their worst League season in decades and will have to make improvements ahead of the new season once the summer transfer window opens.
New and better players will have to be recruited in areas where the team has clearly struggled this season.
Here are the positions where Arsenal must bring in some new quality players;
Attacking Midfield
Signing a playmaker should be the number one priority for Mikel Arteta and his technical team once the transfer window opens. Arsenal failed to find a replacement for Mesut Ozil and started the season without a recognized attacking midfielder.
This is why the team has struggled in the final third with chance creation. Martin Odegaard was brought in on loan in January but he wont be joining permanently. Smith-Rowe has been impressive in that role but the youngster can’t carry the burden alone.
Central Midfield
A central midfielder preferably box-to-box has to be on the transfer list. With Ceballos returning back to Real Madrid after two seasons on loan, a central midfielder who can partner Thomas Partey or provide serious competition for Granit Xhaka is needed especially if Matteo Guendouzi is sold.
Winger
A technically gifted winger who can play on both sides must be signed. Willian was signed to do that but he has been a disappointment and should be sold.
A quality winger who can ease the burden on the young Bukayo Saka is much needed.
Right-back
Bellerin could be on his way out and regardless he hasn’t turned out to be the player he was expected to be. A right-back solid defensively and capable of making runs to the final third and whipping in accurate crosses must be on the agenda. Someone in the mould of Kieran Tierney.
