The next few weeks are going to be busy for Arsenal as they are likely to try to ramp up their transfer business ahead of the start of the season since Mikel Arteta and the current club hierarchy has always said that he is not a fan of deadline day deals. Arsenal is likely to lose Granit Xhaka to AS Roma as per many reports and the gunners have identified possible replacements that can be brought in.

Arsenal was some time back heavily linked with a move for Wolverhampton midfielder Ruben Neves with many reports claiming that the gunners would bring him to the Emirates Stadium as a replacement for Granit Xhaka since the departure of the Swiss international would leave Mohammed Elneny and Thomas Partey as the only experienced option in that position.

The gunners could however face a big challenge in signing Ruben Neves as TalkSport have confirmed that their rivals Manchester United are ready to hijack the deal and sign the Portuguese midfielder in this summer transfer window for a fee in the region of £35million. This would be a big blow for Arsenal as their other midfield targets haven’t shown any signs of joining them and a deal to sign Neves is considered to be one that the gunners would easily complete since its reported that the 24 year old would be open to a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will not be able to beat Manchester United in a bidding war this summer since the gunners missed out on any European football while The Red Devils have received the UEFA Champions League money after finishing 2nd on the Premier League table last season. It will be interesting to see how this Ruben Neves saga ends as it currently looks like Manchester United are ahead of Arsenal in the pursuit of the midfielder.
