It is no secret that Arsenal is in the transfer market for a central attacking midfielder or playmaker since they have been unable to bring back Martin Odegaard who had shown in the few months he was at the club that he could do the job. Arsenal had also identified James Maddison as a possible target to try to bring in this summer but him being very expensive might have seen them make a move for someone surprising.

James Maddison is a player that Mikel Arteta reportedly wants at Arsenal before the closure of the summer transfer window but it’s however claimed that Leicester City have slapped an asking price of at least £60million which is a big amount of money that the gunners might not afford due to having failed to qualify for any European competition.

A report by The Mirror has revealed that Arsenal will make a surprise move for Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva who is likely to leave The Premier League Champions this summer after they decided to splash £100million to bring in Jack Grealish. Bernardo Silva is an outstanding attacking midfielder that showed his quality in the Premier League in the past even though he wasn’t one of the favourites for a start under Pep Guardiola last season.

The report claims that even though Arsenal is interested in James Maddison, a move for Silva could prove to be easier to be done as the Portuguese midfielder would be cheaper and Arteta knows him very well since he coached him when he was still at Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant.
