Leicester City make a statement on the supposed James Maddison move to Arsenal
Arsenal are interested in James Maddison according to many reports but Leicester City have however made a statement on the supposed move of the midfielder to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have made signing a new playmaker in this summer transfer window one of their priorities since the club lost Mesut Ozil in January and then Martin Odegaard in July after his loan at the Emirates Stadium expired since he joined on only a six month loan deal. Arsenal are now interested in Leicester City star James Maddison and The Foxes have however made a statement on the future of the Englishman.
James Maddison is considered to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League by most football pundits and he is the type of player that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants in an attacking midfielder as he is capable of attacking and isn’t unable to put in a shift at the back whenever he’s needed but most reports have however mentioned that the main problem that the gunners will face in getting him is the fee.
Leicester City have been quiet about the rumours concerning James Maddison until now as their boss Brendan Rodgers has made a statement claiming he believes that the 24 year old will stay at the King Power Stadium despite the rumours in the press.
“I believe so. I haven’t been told anything to say he wouldn’t be. He’s happy in training and working very hard.” said Brendan Rodgers telling Football.London a few days ago when asked if he will stay.
“He’s just become a father so he has a responsibility off the pitch. There is gossip and speculation that goes around especially at this time of the year.”
“James is a very important member of our squad and a very talented player. His season was disrupted last year with injury so hopefully this year he can show the real top player he is.”
