Arsenal have today released their home kits for next season and this came with a little surprise for the fans as the club also revealed that the club had decided to give Gabriel Martinelli the shirt no.11 which was this still with the Uruguayan international. Lucas Torreira is still registered as an Arsenal player as he only left the gunners last summer on a loan deal and is expected to be back in the next few weeks.
Arsenal completed the signing of Lucas Torreira in the 2018 summer transfer window but he has however failed to get settled in the Premier League as problems with Unai Emery and failure to integrate into Mikel Arteta’s squad saw him agitate for a departure but the gunners were only able to let him go on a loan deal. Arsenal youngster Gabriel Martinelli has become one of the most important players at the club this season and he has now been given the shirt number 11.
Gabriel Martinelli
Lucas Torreira has taken to Instagram to comment on Arsenal giving Gabriel Martinelli his shirt number. The Uruguayan international wrote on Instagram;
:“What number will I wear next year? ???????????? good luck amigo @gabimartinelli. I love you.”
The Arsenal supporters will be happy that Lucas Torreira is happy with Martinelli getting the shirt no. 11 as this shows that he was probably already informed ahead of the announcement unlike some clubs who have brought unnecessary controversies by taking away shirt numbers of players without even a word to them. This is all speculation from us but Torreira is clearly happy for Martinelli so nothing to worry about squad harmony.
