Mikel Arteta provides a good update on Saka and Saliba’s new contracts
Arsenal are said to be looking to get Bukayo Saka and William Saliba to new contracts and Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the future of those two players.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given an update on the renewal of Bukayo Saka and William Saliba’s contracts in a press conference. Arteta said as per Arsenal Player, “They will do in the same way that we dealt with Gabi, we’ll deal with the rest (Saka and Saliba). Things need some time sometimes but we are delighted with the news of Gabi, obviously.”
The Gunners are currently in talks with their young stars, Saka and Saliba, to agree on new deals to extend their stay at the Emirates Stadium. Both players are 21 years old and out of contract in the summer of 2024. Arsenal have recently triggered options to extend both of their stays by an extra 12 months.
Saka has been a standout performer for Arsenal since breaking into the first team in 2018. He has been particularly impressive this season as he has scored seven goals as well as providing seven assists in the Premier League this season so far.
Saliba joined Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in 2019 but was immediately loaned back to his former club for the season so that he gains experience. He has finally made his Arsenal debut in this 2022/23 campaign and he has been one of their best defenders this season after proving Mikel Arteta that he has what it takes to be a regular in the starting eleven.
It remains to be seen whether Saka and Saliba will sign new deals at Arsenal or not but it is clear that Arteta wants them both to stay at the club beyond 2024. The Spaniard will be hoping that they can agree on new contracts soon so that he can plan ahead for next season without any worries about their future at the club.
