Bukayo Saka reveals the former Arsenal star that inspired his play style
Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka has been one of their best players this season and the Englishman has revealed the former player that inspired his current play style.
Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka has revealed that he took inspiration from former Gunner star Alexis Sanchez when developing his playing style. The 21-year-old winger has been impressive for Arsenal this season, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists.
Saka’s performances have helped Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table with 66 points after 27 games. However, they are closely followed by second-placed Manchester City, who have 61 points. Saka is one of the players who have played a crucial role in Arsenal’s title race this season.
Speaking about his playing style, Saka said that he loved watching Alexis Sanchez play and took inspiration from him. “I watched Alexis Sanchez a lot growing up. He was a special player, I loved many things about him,” said Saka as per The Standard.
“That’s one of the qualities he had — he always got up, fought to the end. You could say I took that from him, but at the same time I have my own goals and ambitions. That’s also part of my drive.”
Sanchez was a fan favourite during his time at Arsenal, scoring 60 goals in 122 appearances for the club. He was known for his tenacity and never-say-die attitude on the pitch.
Saka has shown similar qualities this season, with his work rate and determination helping Arsenal to grind out results in tough games. His versatility has also been key for manager Mikel Arteta, as he can play in multiple positions across the front line.
With Arsenal in a title race this season, Saka will be hoping to continue his impressive form and help lead his team to their first Premier League title since 2004. His performances have already earned him recognition at international level, with England manager Gareth Southgate calling him up to the squad that went for the World Cup.
Saka’s rise to prominence has been rapid, but it is clear that he is not content with just being a good player. He wants to be great, and if he continues to take inspiration from players like Sanchez while forging his own path, there is no doubt that he will achieve his goals.
