Manchester City 4-1 Arsenal: How it happened

Arsenal was last night hosted at the Etihad Stadium by Manchester City and the gunners left there with a 4-1 defeat hence their title chances decreasing.

Arsenal’s title challenge took a hit on Wednesday night as they suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. The Gunners were outplayed by a dominant City side, who took control of the game early on and never looked back.

The first goal of the game came in just the seventh minute, as Erling Haaland fed Kevin De Bruyne, who slotted home to give City an early lead. Arsenal struggled to get into the game after that, with City dominating possession and creating numerous chances.

The second goal came just before half-time, as John Stones nodded in from De Bruyne’s set piece. The goal was initially disallowed for offside, but after consulting VAR, referee Michael Oliver gave the goal because an offside was incorrectly flagged during the attacking phase.

City continued to dominate in the second half, with De Bruyne getting his second of the night in the 54th minute. The Belgian slotted home under Aaron Ramsdale, with Haaland again providing the assist.

Arsenal did manage to pull one back in the 86th minute through Rob Holding, who guided a finish into the net from the edge of the box. But any hopes of a comeback were dashed in stoppage time, as Haaland got his customary goal to make it 4-1 to City.

The defeat leaves Arsenal’s title challenge in doubt, as they are now just two points ahead of second-placed Manchester City with two games in hand. While they are still top of the table, their lead is far from secure and they will need to bounce back quickly if they want to stay there.

Manager Mikel Arteta will be disappointed with his side’s performance on Wednesday night, as they were outplayed by a superior City team. He will need to rally his players and get them back on track if they want to maintain their position at the top of the table.

Overall, it was a disappointing night for Arsenal, who will need to regroup quickly if they want to stay in the title race. While they still have a chance of winning the Premier League, they will need to improve their performances if they want to hold off the challenge of Manchester City.
