Arsenal reportedly close to agreeing a new deal for their most important player
Arsenal have in the past few weeks been in talks to renew contracts of their star players and a report has now revealed that the gunners are close to finishing one of their most important player.
Arsenal Football Club is reportedly keen to wrap up a quick agreement with their captain Martin Ødegaard over a new and improved contract.
According to reports from Football Insider, Arsenal is looking to bring Ødegaard’s wages in line with Bukayo Saka, who recently signed a new long-term deal worth a reported £195,000-a-week. The Gunners are said to be eager to secure the 24-year-old’s services for the long term and are willing to offer him a lucrative deal to do so.
Ødegaard had an impressive season with Arsenal, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists in all competitions. He played a key role in Arsenal’s bid for the Premier League title, which saw them go head-to-head with Manchester City for much of the season.
However, their hopes were dashed in their 37th game week when they suffered a shock defeat against Nottingham Forest. This loss saw them lose out on the title to Manchester City, who finished the season with 89 points compared to Arsenal’s 84 points.
Despite this disappointment, Ødegaard’s performances were one of the highlights of Arsenal’s season. His creativity and vision on the ball helped unlock defences and create chances for his teammates. He quickly became a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium and was praised by pundits for his performances.
If Arsenal can secure Ødegaard’s signature on a new contract, it will be seen as a major coup for Mikel Arteta’s side. With his talent and potential, he could help lead Arsenal back to the top of English football and challenge for major honours once again.
