Arsenal will be looking to offload some players in this summer transfer window and one of Mikel Arteta's most loved players is close to an exit from the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly agreed on a £21.5m deal for midfielder Granit Xhaka, according to Football.London. The deal is said to be very close to completion, which will see the Swiss international make a move to the Bundesliga.
Xhaka had an impressive season in the Premier League, scoring five goals and providing seven assists for Arsenal. His performances have made him one of Mikel Arteta’s most loved players, and his departure will undoubtedly leave a void in the Gunners’ midfield.
Last season, Arsenal were engaged in a fierce title race with Manchester City in their bid to win the 2022/23 Premier League title. However, their hopes were dashed when they suffered a defeat against Nottingham Forest in their 37th game week. This loss ultimately cost them the trophy as Manchester City finished with 89 points, five points ahead of Arsenal’s 84.
Despite leading the league table for ten months during the season, Arsenal had to settle for second place. It was undoubtedly a disappointing outcome for Arteta’s side after their strong campaign. The Gunners will now be looking to strengthen their squad and make necessary changes during the summer transfer window.
The imminent departure of Xhaka will require Arsenal to find a suitable replacement who can fill his shoes in midfield. The Swiss international has been an influential figure for the Gunners since joining from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016. His passing range, defensive abilities, and leadership qualities have made him an integral part of Arteta’s plans.
On the other hand, Bayer Leverkusen will be delighted with their acquisition of Xhaka. The German club finished sixth in the Bundesliga last season and will be looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign. Xhaka’s experience and quality will undoubtedly bolster Leverkusen’s midfield options as they aim for a higher league finish next season.
As the deal nears completion, Xhaka will be bidding farewell to Arsenal and embarking on a new chapter in his career. The midfielder has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the Gunners’ faithful, and his contributions will be remembered fondly. Arsenal fans will now be eagerly waiting to see who Arteta brings in to replace Xhaka and how the team will fare in the upcoming season.
In conclusion, Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen have agreed on a £21.5m deal for Granit Xhaka. The Swiss international had an impressive season for the Gunners but fell short in their title race against Manchester City. Xhaka’s departure will leave a void in Arsenal’s midfield, and the club will need to find a suitable replacement. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen will be delighted with their acquisition as they aim for an improved league finish next season.

Xhaka has been a real enigma for AFC his form and behaviour including the way he acted when captain was terrible but he has taken the second chance Arteta gave him and he showed how good he actually was.
