Four strikers Arsenal are looking at

Betting companies in Kenya 2023 pay a lot of attention to bets on the English Premier League. One of the most popular teams is London Arsenal, whose attacking potential can grow from the new transfer campaign.

Arsenal’s solid start to the Premier League campaign has them near the top of the table, but manager Mikel Arteta may look to add firepower up front in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are still undefeated after finishing runners-up last season. While Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have performed admirably at striker, some believe Arsenal lack a truly elite goalscorer to take them to the next level.

As the transfer window approaches, four forwards have emerged as potential targets for the North London club. We analyzed the likelihood of each rumored signing coming to fruition when the market opens in a few months.

Ivan Toney (Brentford)

Ivan Toney’s superb form for Brentford has put him firmly on Arsenal’s radar. The striker is currently serving a ban for betting offenses, but his 21 goals and 5 assists last season have sparked transfer speculation.

«Toney would be an excellent signing for Arsenal», – said former Gunners midfielder Jermaine Pennant in October 2023. – He’s shown he can be a prolific scorer at Brentford and his finishing, work rate, and hold-up play would make him a great fit in North London. He could be Arsenal’s modern day Ian Wright. I’d be very surprised if they don’t move for Toney this winter».

Brentford will likely demand a hefty fee upwards of £60 million for their talisman. But Toney’s proven Premier League production could convince Arsenal to meet the Bees’ asking price as they look to add more firepower up front.

Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

Ollie Watkins recently signed a new 5-year contract with Aston Villa, but that may not stop Arsenal from pursuing him. Long-term deals nowadays are often more about ensuring a high transfer fee than deterring interest.

The English striker has been in excellent form since Unai Emery took charge at Villa Park. After 16 goals last season, Watkins already has 7 goals and 4 assists in 2023-24. His non-stop work rate and clinical finishing make him seem like an ideal fit for Arsenal’s style of play.

At only 27 years old, Watkins could be worth a big investment for the Gunners. His new contract may simply drive up his transfer fee, rather than take him off the market. With his combination of skills, Arsenal could see him as the perfect addition up front as they push for the title.

Santiago Gimenez (Feyenoord)

Beyond Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins, Arsenal have also been linked to Mexican striker Santiago Gimenez as a potential transfer target.

The 22-year-old joined Feyenoord from Cruz Azul last year and has been prolific, scoring 31 goals in 52 matches. Reports over the summer indicated Feyenoord would demand a £43.5 million fee for Gimenez.

In addition to Arsenal, Manchester United and Brighton were said to be interested in Gimenez during the last transfer window. Securing his signature could require beating out competition from Premier League rivals.

With his youth, pedigree in the Eredivisie, and blossoming talent on the international stage with Mexico, Gimenez could appeal to Arsenal as an alternative to the more established English strikers on their radar. But prying him away from Rotterdam could prove difficult and expensive.

Lois Openda (Red Bull Leipzig)

Rising Belgian striker Lois Openda has emerged as a potential big money signing after excelling for Lens and RB Leipzig.

The 23-year-old was instrumental in Lens’ surprise Ligue 1 runner-up finish before moving to Germany where he has impressed, scoring against Bayern Munich and Manchester City this season. His clinical finishing ability is precisely what top clubs covet.

Reports indicate Openda has a £70 million release clause in his Leipzig contract that activates in 2025. But interested teams like Arsenal may attempt to sign him sooner rather than waiting until then.

Given his meteoric rise over the past two seasons, Openda could command a massive fee. But for a young striker of his caliber, that likely won’t deter potential suitors from making a move. Arsenal and others may decide he’s worth opening their wallets in order to land a potential superstar.
