Martin Odegaard’s masterful season for Arsenal has been underlined by a remarkable statistic: he created more open-play chances than any other player in Europe’s top seven leagues. The Norwegian midfielder finished the 2023/24 campaign with a staggering 88 chances created from open play, a figure that surpasses the next closest player by a significant margin of at least 13 chances.

Odegaard’s exceptional playmaking abilities were a crucial factor in Arsenal’s title challenge. His vision, passing range, and ability to unlock defenses made him a constant threat throughout the season. He seamlessly orchestrated Arsenal’s attacks, providing the crucial link between midfield and attack.

As Arsenal narrowly missed out on the Premier League title, Odegaard’s contribution was crucial. His impressive open-play chance creation serves as a reminder of his immense talent and the crucial role he plays within Mikel Arteta’s system. This statistic solidifies Odegaard’s standing as one of the most creative midfielders in Europe, and as Arsenal look to build on their success in the upcoming season, his playmaking abilities will be vital in their pursuit of silverware.
