Arsenal confirms the official departure of their defender via their website

Arsenal have confirmed the departure of left-back Nuno Tavares on a season-long loan to Serie A side Lazio. The move represents a fresh start for the 24-year-old Portuguese defender, who is seeking to gain valuable experience in a new league.
Tavares joined Arsenal from Benfica in July 2021, showcasing his attacking prowess and potential during his initial season. Notably, he scored a memorable goal against Manchester United in April 2022. However, he struggled to secure a regular starting spot under Mikel Arteta, leading to loan spells at Marseille and Nottingham Forest.

Last season’s loan stint with Forest saw Tavares make 12 appearances in all competitions, showcasing his versatility and ability to operate as an attacking left-sided full-back.
This move to Lazio offers Tavares the chance to develop further in a competitive league like Serie A. Arsenal have expressed their best wishes for the defender, acknowledging the potential for growth during his time in Italy.
The loan deal is subject to the completion of necessary regulatory processes.
Tavares’ departure leaves Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko as the current left-back options at Arsenal. It remains to be seen if Arteta will look to further strengthen this position during the current transfer window.
