Marseille’s pursuit of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah continues, with the French club now exploring a loan deal with an obligation to buy, according to The Mirror. The initial proposal submitted last week reportedly fell short of Arsenal’s valuation for the 25-year-old striker, but it has kickstarted negotiations between the two clubs.

Nketiah, despite making 27 appearances for Arsenal last season, predominantly as a substitute, managed to contribute 5 goals and 2 assists in the Premier League. However, with the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, his opportunities have become more limited, leading to speculation over his future.

Marseille, who are looking to bolster their attacking options, see Nketiah as a valuable addition to their squad. While the initial offer fell short of Arsenal’s expectations, the proposed loan deal with an obligation to buy could prove to be a more appealing option for both sides.

It’s worth noting that Nketiah travelled with Arsenal to the United States for their pre-season tour on Sunday. This suggests that, despite the ongoing transfer speculation, the striker is still part of Arsenal’s plans for the time being. However, the potential move to Marseille remains a strong possibility, with both clubs working towards a mutually beneficial agreement.

Whether a deal is struck in the coming weeks remains to be seen, but the negotiations are certainly heating up, indicating that a potential switch to the Stade Vélodrome is a real possibility for Nketiah.
