Calafiori’s Arsenal move nears completion: Two key steps remain
Arsenal’s pursuit of young Italian left-back Riccardo Calafiori is nearing completion, with two key steps remaining before the transfer is officially announced. The Gunners have reached an agreement with Bologna for the player, with the fee understood to be €40m plus €5m in add-ons and a sell-on clause.
Calafiori is set to travel to London shortly to undergo the first part of his medical assessment. Following this initial phase, he will then fly to the United States, where Arsenal are currently in the midst of their pre-season tour, to complete the final medical checks. Once these medical procedures are successfully concluded, the deal will be finalized and the transfer officially announced.
The 22-year-old Italian, who spent the past season at Bologna, is viewed as a promising young talent with potential to fill a key role in Arsenal’s squad. His arrival would provide manager Mikel Arteta with valuable depth and competition at left-back, particularly as Kieran Tierney’s future remains uncertain.
Calafiori’s signing represents Arsenal’s continued investment in youth and potential, as they seek to build a squad capable of challenging for top honours. The arrival of the Italian defender adds further strength to their backline, indicating their ambition to secure a competitive edge in the upcoming season.
While Calafiori’s journey to London and the US for medical assessments signals the imminent completion of the transfer, Arsenal fans will be eagerly awaiting the official confirmation and the chance to see the young defender in action.
