Marseille have abandoned their pursuit of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, deciding against meeting the Gunners’ €30 million asking price as per Fabrizio Romano. The French club, who had expressed interest in the young forward, have instead opted to focus their attention on alternative targets this summer.

Nketiah, who enjoyed a breakthrough season with Arsenal in 2023-24, made 27 appearances for the North London club, predominantly coming off the bench. Despite limited starts, he managed to contribute five goals and two assists in the Premier League, showcasing his potential and proving his worth to the team.

Despite the interest from Marseille, Arsenal were insistent on their €30 million valuation for the 24-year-old striker. This price proved too steep for the Ligue 1 side, who ultimately decided to pursue other options to strengthen their attacking ranks.

The decision by Marseille leaves Nketiah’s future at Arsenal unclear. While his limited game time last season raised questions about his long-term prospects, his performance and contribution to the team highlight his value to the squad.

Arsenal, having already secured the signing of Riccardo Calafiori, may now focus on other areas of their squad as they look to build on their impressive 2023-24 campaign and challenge for the Premier League title.
