Arsenal head into tonight’s crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon at the Estádio José Alvalade with momentum on their side. Following a commanding 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta will be looking to secure all three points and edge closer to qualification for the knockout stages. Here’s a look at the predicted lineup Arteta might deploy for the high-stakes encounter.

In goal, David Raya is expected to retain his place as Arsenal’s first-choice keeper for European fixtures. The defensive line could feature a blend of stability and energy, with Gabriel and Saliba forming a reliable center-back pairing, while Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori occupy the full-back positions. Calafiori’s recent return to action is a boost, offering dynamism on the left flank.

The midfield trio is likely to include Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, and Mikel Merino. Odegaard’s creativity, combined with Rice’s defensive solidity and Merino’s box-to-box presence, provides the perfect balance to dominate the midfield against a technically skilled Sporting side.

In attack, Arsenal’s front three promises pace, trickery, and clinical finishing. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are expected to start on the wings, providing width and cutting-edge delivery, while Kai Havertz leads the line, hoping to continue proving his worth in a central role.

So Arsenal’s XI will be: Raya,Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Odegaard, Rice, Merino, Saka, Havertz, Martinelli

With Arsenal in fine form and sitting fourth in the Premier League, this predicted XI looks capable of earning a positive result. Sporting Lisbon will pose a challenge, but Arteta’s side has the quality to rise to the occasion and secure their place as group leaders in the Champions League.
