Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his surprise and frustration following his team’s elimination from the FA Cup at the hands of Manchester United. Speaking after the game, Arteta shared his thoughts on the performance, describing it as one of dominance but lamenting the missed opportunities that ultimately cost his team.

“I’m pretty amazed how we haven’t won the game comfortably,” Arteta said via club media, reflecting on the match. “With everything that we’ve done, the way we played, dominated the game, the amount of chances that we generated, big open chances and the fact that we didn’t concede anything.”

The Gunners showcased an impressive performance, controlling large portions of the game and creating several clear-cut opportunities. However, despite their efforts, they failed to capitalize, leading to a penalty shootout loss. Manchester United stood firm in defense, frustrating Arsenal’s forwards and holding on to secure their place in the next round.

Arteta highlighted the effort and spirit of his players, particularly following a grueling schedule. “It’s a very hard one to take because, as I said to them, I love you guys because you are a joy to work with every single day. Individually and as a team, incredible after two or three days, how you perform again after a defeat that you didn’t deserve at all because you were much better than the opposition as well.”

The defeat was a bitter pill to swallow, especially given the context of the game. Arsenal’s performance against United was widely considered to be superior, but the lack of clinical finishing and the heroics of United’s goalkeeper were decisive. Arteta’s words echoed the frustration of the Arsenal fanbase, who were left wondering how their team failed to advance despite their dominance.

Looking ahead, Arteta emphasized the importance of resilience and focusing on the next challenge. “Today we will take it again and we’ll go to Wednesday, another opportunity for us, probably at the right time as well to get what we deserve, perform again and give our supporters what they deserve as well.”

With a crucial Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur looming, Arteta urged his team to regroup quickly and channel their disappointment into a positive response. The manager’s words highlight his belief in the squad and his determination to bounce back stronger in what remains a pivotal season for Arsenal.

The Gunners currently sit second in the Premier League table, and their next match against Tottenham offers a chance to get back to winning ways. Arteta’s message was clear: while the FA Cup exit is disappointing, there is still much to fight for, and the team must move forward with determination.
