Arsenal have suffered a significant setback ahead of their crucial Champions League Round of 16 clash against PSV Eindhoven, with five key players ruled out due to injury. According to The Standard, Mikel Arteta will be without Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Takehiro Tomiyasu for today’s match.
The Gunners head into the fixture with mounting concerns over their squad depth, particularly in the attacking department. Arsenal’s frontline has been severely weakened, with all three of their usual starting attackers – Saka, Martinelli, and Jesus – unavailable.
With so many key players missing, Arteta will have to make significant changes to his lineup against PSV. Leandro Trossard is expected to take on a bigger role in attack, while younger talents like Ethan Nwaneri and Amario Cozier-Duberry could be called upon to provide attacking reinforcements.
Martin Ødegaard and Declan Rice will also be crucial in leading Arsenal’s midfield, ensuring control and creativity despite the absences. Defensively, Arsenal still have William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, and Jurrien Timber, who will be key in keeping PSV at bay.
Despite the injury woes, Arsenal will be determined to secure a positive result against PSV in their away leg. The Gunners have been in good form in the Champions League, but missing several key players could make this a much more challenging task.
Fans will be hoping that those sidelined can recover quickly, as Arsenal are still competing on multiple fronts and need all their top players available for the decisive weeks of the season.
