Arsenal Name Strong Starting XI to Face Real Madrid in Champions League Showdown

Arsenal have officially confirmed their starting lineup to take on Real Madrid in tonight’s massive UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu. With a 3-0 advantage from the first leg, Mikel Arteta has selected a bold yet balanced lineup as the Gunners aim to secure a famous result and progress to the semi-finals.
Starting XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Rice, Ødegaard; Saka, Martinelli, Merino.
Bench: Neto, Setford, Tierney, White, Zinchenko, Trossard, Sterling, Butler-Oyedeji, Gower, Henry-Francis, Nwaneri, Rosiak.
Arteta has shown a blend of youth, experience, and tactical flexibility with tonight’s selection. His decision to trust some younger names in such a high-stakes match reflects the confidence and belief within the squad right now.
Defensive Setup
David Raya continues in goal, as expected. The Spaniard was solid in the first leg and will be looking for another composed performance under the bright lights of Madrid.
At right-back, Jurrien Timber makes his long-awaited Champions League start following his recovery from injury. The Dutchman’s composure and defensive intelligence will be crucial in dealing with Real Madrid’s wide threats.
William Saliba and Jakub Kiwior form the central defensive pairing, with both players excelling at the Emirates last week. Their chemistry and ability to play out from the back make them vital to Arsenal’s approach.
Myles Lewis-Skelly starts at left-back in a surprise but exciting move. The 17-year-old has been a revelation at youth level, and Arteta appears to trust his defensive work rate and technical ability to handle this elite stage.
Midfield Control
In midfield, Thomas Partey and Declan Rice will look to control the tempo and provide the defensive shield Arsenal will need against a motivated Madrid side. Partey’s return adds vital experience, while Rice continues to be the engine of the team.
Captain Martin Ødegaard starts in the advanced midfield role and will look to dictate play and unlock Real Madrid’s defence with his passing and movement.
Attack with Speed and Intelligence
