Arteta Provides Injury Update on Bukayo Saka After Real Madrid Clash

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has delivered a welcome boost to Gunners fans around the world, confirming that star winger Bukayo Saka has not suffered a serious injury following their 3-0 UEFA Champions League triumph over Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium.
Saka, who played a vital role in the first leg victory, was seen limping late in the second half and was eventually substituted, raising concerns about his availability ahead of the crucial second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu. However, Arteta was quick to allay fears during his post-match media duties.
“Bukayo Saka has not suffered any serious injury,” Arteta told reporters. “He’s fine, I think it was a kick.”
Those simple words will be music to the ears of Arsenal fans, who have witnessed Saka grow into one of the most important players in Arteta’s setup. The 23-year-old was once again electric on the night, constantly tormenting Real Madrid’s backline with his pace, directness, and intelligent positioning.
Though he didn’t get on the scoresheet, Saka played a key role in maintaining Arsenal’s attacking rhythm and linking up brilliantly with Martin Ødegaard and Declan Rice in the final third. His ability to stretch defences and create space was instrumental in Arsenal dominating the tempo of the match.
The moment of concern came midway through the second half when Saka appeared to take a knock following a challenge near the touchline. He received treatment on the pitch and tried to continue, but was eventually replaced by Leandro Trossard with just over 15 minutes to go. Cameras captured the England international walking gingerly to the bench, which led to speculation about a possible injury setback.
However, Arteta’s post-match reassurance indicates that the substitution was precautionary and that Saka should be in contention for the second leg next week. Given the magnitude of that match — a place in the Champions League semi-finals on the line — having Saka available would be a massive plus for the Gunners.
Arsenal have already had to navigate periods without Saka earlier this season due to fatigue and minor knocks, and each time his absence was felt. But the club’s medical and performance staff have worked closely with him to manage his workload, particularly during high-stakes periods like this.
Arteta’s statement also reflects the manager’s growing confidence in how his squad is handling the physical demands of a title and European push. The Gunners have dealt with their share of injuries this season, but key players like Saka, Rice, and Saliba have largely remained fit and available when it matters most.
With the second leg against Real Madrid looming, Arsenal can now plan with optimism, knowing one of their brightest stars is not sidelined. As they prepare for another historic night in Europe, Bukayo Saka looks set to be right in the thick of it once again — just as Arsenal fans would want.
