Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi sustained on what seemed to be a thigh injury last night while on international duty, It is reported that the centre back will be returning to London soon and will be assesed by Arsenal’s medical specialists according to SKY SPORTS. This means that the German international is out of the squad to face Watford on Sunday.

The gunners have for long been getting struck with injuries every season in vital times and this has again happened as a regular first team defender Shkodran Mustafi is expected to be out for almost 6 months. Arsene Wenger has always stressed out that he is team usually un lucky hence not winning the English Premier League for a decade now.

Arsene Wenger will need to try and find a solution as quickly as possible meaning he will have to pick one on Per Mertasacker and Rob Holding who will be providing cover for the injured German international. Statistically, both Holding and Mertasacker were not offered many chances last season to showcase their talents. Shkodran Mustafi has joined an ever increasing list of players as there are already names like Danny Welbeck and Santi Carzola who have been out for a very long time.

This season is the last for Per Mertasacker as a footballer because he will be taking charge of the position of being an Arsenal academy so the German international has many things on his mind because he will soon be a junior team coach while Rob Holding has lost confidence after he had a tremendous poor performance for the gunners when Liverpool thrashed Arsenal 4-0, a match that made the supporters hate and underrate Rob Holding.
